Seppe Gebruers becomes artistic and managing director of MIRY Concert Hall
From 1 September 2026, I take on the artistic and managerial leadership of MIRY Concert Hall in Ghent. From 2027 onwards, I will shape its artistic direction and further develop its public concert programme.

All music becomes contemporary music the moment it is heard today.
MIRY is a historic concert hall with distinctive acoustics, situated at the heart of KASK & Conservatorium. I want to develop it as an open musical space where education, artistic research and the wider musical life can meet. The room is not a neutral container: it actively shapes how music sounds, is experienced and takes form.
Curiosity will guide this work. MIRY will not be confined by genres, historical periods or a fixed opposition between tradition and experiment. Listening with fresh ears to the unknown—and learning to hear what seems familiar differently—is a shared challenge for musicians and audiences.
Its position within the conservatory also gives MIRY a particular role as a bridge. Students, alumni and emerging makers can enter into dialogue with experienced artists and established practices, allowing knowledge and questions to move in more than one direction.
